I remember when I started this blog using the Word Press platform, I had a deep desire to be accurate in the things of God; from my dressing to the choice of words I use as I interact with my readers.
In the midst of all that was a giant called compromise!! Truth be told, in the blogosphere, there’s the pressure of fitting in and if you are not deeply rooted in the word of God, this wind would drift you to any direction. You will find yourself having compromised to great extents.
In order to fit in, I found myself buying clothes that were accentuating my figure just to look on trend. When I view some of my previous posts, I contemplate on whether to delete or keep them, but I want someone to be inspired by my journey from imperfection to now striving for perfection.
I believe that modesty starts from the heart, as what you wear is a reflection of what is within you. Modesty is not about the outward appearance. I like quoting my favorite scripture in regards to modesty which is 1st Peter 3:3-4 Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 & 14
This is just a tip of the iceberg; in March, we will be having a guest writer who has inspired me to interact personally with the topic of modesty. That is why I have shared some bits of my experience in the journey of true modesty. I can’t wait to read her article.
When we did this photo shoot, I never figured that this Ankara peplum jacket would blend so well with this maxi skirt. My photographer convinced me to wear this outfit but I was hesitant at first as I felt I would look twice my age, now I know that my photographer is as good a photographer as a fashion guy. I have never worn this skirt going anywhere due to its short lining except during photo shoots. Meaning it’s high time I take it to the tailor! 🙂
