HAPPY NEW MONTH!!
While in Mombasa for the staff team building, we got to visit the Fort Jesus Museum, as it is one of UNESCO’s world Heritage site.
The Portuguese built Fort Jesus in 1593. The site chosen was a coral ridge at the entrance to the harbor. The Fort was designed by an Italian Architect and Engineer, Joao, Batista Cairato. The earliest known plan of the Fort is in a manuscript Atlas by Manuel Godinho de Heredia – dated 1610 which shows the original layout of the buildings inside the Fort..Here is a link if you want to know more about fort Jesus FORT JESUS
You can tell that it has really changed, compared to the previous times I have been there, it has become cleaner, I bet you can attest to that! We had an informative tour of Fort Jesus. You can only learn so much more by getting a guide to this place, and our guide was the best.
It is a very historic place, that reflects more about the technology that was used by Portuguese to fight, I like the background and the structure of the museum itself, it is a good place, feeling the breeze from outside the creek of Indian Ocean. It’s high time as Kenyans we promote Domestic Tourism, Kenya its really a beautiful place.
Enjoy The pictures I took…
Just look at these beautiful views, the water as clear as blue crystal, so refreshing to the eyes!
