My spirit was so low yesterday, I felt introverted to a point I wished there was an Island nearby where I could hide for a few hours. It took me time to realize what the setback was. For a moment, I thought the frustrations came from the deadlines to meet at work, or the house chores that keep me awake till late at night.
Later on, I realized that the dissatisfactions were being caused by little disagreement I had with someone very dear to me. We had disagreed over the phone and we had let the sun go down while we were still angry at each other. This had affected me in a big way.
It reminded me of Ephesians 4:26 In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.
This little difference came from miscommunication! I am not a relationship expert, but I like sharing some of my personal experiences, knowing the root cause and implementing the lessons learned.
On my point; Communication is critical in relationships. When you tend to be secretive, dishonest, untrustworthy and selfish, you are doing nothing but killing that relationship slowly. Just by lying that you are ok yet you are displeased by someone else’s actions, you are creating an avenue for the devil to penetrate through. (Psalms 11:2) For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. A shadow is an area in your life/ heart where the light of God cannot penetrate through.
When the devil tries to come and steal your joy and finds that you and those you are related to are walking straight in accordance to God’s word, he finds it difficult to penetrate through. Satan hates marriages and unions that are of God. This is nothing less than the earthly image of Christ’s unbreakable love for His bride; the church.
Let us all, therefore, search our relationships and find out if we have left any opening for the devil to come through. I am hopeful that one day we will recite John 14:30 in our hearts, that day when the devil will try come to shoot arrows and doesn’t find what belongs to him: Dishonesty, jealousy, envy, pride, selfishness, anger, and lust.
Unless God comes through for us, unless he steps into our relationships heal our sick hearts, there would be nothing that could happen to resolve all these.
