I was so excited when Jane the founder of Ze queen Beauty and Photography accepted my proposal to collaborate with her, of course, that was after an hour of serious probing :-).
I don’t know what she saw, but her confidence in me clearly showed her keen eye for my abilities. This was my first collaboration with a professional brand, one l would love to work with in future given the opportunity.
I had arrived late at the makeup studio on the day of the photo-shoot, and my heart couldn’t stop beating as she had warned me beforehand of her time keeping. Luckily I arrived before her. They later informed me that the previous night the whole staff, her included had to attend the Laikipia Fashion Fair & Gala as they were the ones in charge of makeup for the models. The whole crew was fatigued but they still hard-pressed themselves, to me that touched my heart, it spoke volumes about them.
These are some of the makeup lessons I learnt that day:
- Before starting off any makeup application, she sanitized her hands using isopropyl alcohol since it prevents the transfer of whatever bacteria she might have picked up throughout her day onto my face or her skin. Then went ahead and disinfected each brush by sprinkling lightly with a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol to remove any excess makeup, which is risky to your skin even though you have your personal brush. It is advisable to disinfect your brushes regularly since it makes it easier to clean them plus they will be safer to use.
- After she cleansed my face using Septona wipes for sensitive skin, she used a moisturizer with SPF apparently it helps the concealer to glide on smoothly to one’s face.
- Since we did not have much time and had only a few minutes to the photoshoot, she opted to use neutral shades for my eyes which suited my skin tone so as to be safe and avoid a sparkly fallout. If you don’t have enough time to do eye makeup perfectly and want to look all natural and simple, opt for neutral colors on your eyes, if perfectly blended, it will give you a simple natural look.
